Know all men by these presents that we, William Vaughn and Obediah Vaughn are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of fifty pounds current money which payment will and truly to be made we bind ourselves and our heirs firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this ____day of Aug 1817. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be solimnized between the above bound William Vaughn and Nancy Jones for which a license has ____ then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force ____.

**Both William & Nancy Vaughn lived in Macon Co, TN at the time of their deaths (1850-1871). Documents located in Barren County, KY Courthouse. Seven children are known from this union: Martin, James A., John, George, Polly, Jane, & Julina (Deckard). Note in Bond, currency is stated in pounds not dollars. William Vaughn in 1834 signed the petition requesting the formation of the county of Macon, Tenessee from that of Smith and other adjoining counties in Tennessee.
William married Nancy Jones, daughter of Martin Jones and Unknown, on 16 Aug 1817 in Barren County, Kentucky. (Nancy Jones was born about 1797 in Virginia.)
