Obit From the Thursday, November 30, 2006 issue: Elsie "Irene" Yonce, 1909-2006, Sedalia Elsie "Irene" Yonce, 96, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Florence, a daughter of Forrest and Mattie Lacota Williams Williams. On Dec. 5, 1936, in Sedalia, she was married to Fred Oliver Yonce, who died Feb. 27, 1981. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedalia. She had taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was a training union leader, and belonged to the Women's Missionary Union. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and tending flowers. She was the oldest of 13 children, and cared for her younger brothers and sisters. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Marcel Yonce and his wife, Evelyn, of Sedalia, and Verlin Yonce, of Blue Springs; three brothers, Vernon Williams, of Tipton, Otto Williams, of Newport News, Va., and Howard Williams, of Lithia Springs, Ga.; three grandchildren, Sherry Quirk, of Windsor, Lory Hill, of Sedalia and Cayle Yonce, of Sedalia; 10 great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Yonce, Sedalia. She was also predeceased by a son, Larry Leon Yonce; two grandsons, Rick Yonce and Chad Yonce; a great-grandson, Robbie Yeater; and a great-granddaughter, Abbie Quirk; five brothers, Lee, RV, Norman, Harold and Jerry Williams; and four sisters, Frances Arnold, Lillian Arnold, Eula Williams and Dorothy Henley. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Drew Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be Cayle Yonce, Steven Ritzo, Joshua Ritzo, Zachariah Sparks, Ted Hill and Terry Nieman. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church.
